What to Expect?

Lubuk Timah Hot Spring (Pusat Rekreasi Lubuk Timah) is located just 15 km from Ipoh City and it is a hidden gem and its waters were once used for tin mining in the early 20th century. This area is suitable for taking fresh air, relaxing and for a picnic during weekends. The hot spring can be reached by using Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highland Road (Route 185) near the Simpang Pulai Toll Plaza.

Far from being just a simple scenic spot by a river and waterfall, the Lubuk Timah Hotsprings and Recreational Centre has more than Mother Nature’s wonders to offer to visitors today.

Located in Simpang Pulai on the way up to Cameron Highlands, the location has been a favourite spot among holiday-goers to relax and swim for years. There are currently four small pools and a large one for those who want to take a dip in hot springs.

The reservoir may have long silted up, but water still flows over the dam on both sides, forming two waterfalls further in after two serene pools of natural hot springs. The open hot spring pool located just by the river is clean and well-maintained. There are 3 pools which has different degrees of heat. You have to be cautious if you want to put your foot in the hottest pool as it is very hot. There are also waterfall if you want to cool your body after the hot bath.

Besides that, various new amenities have been added like chalets, gazebos, a surau, camping sites, karaoke room, a multipurpose hall and container-style dormitories. It is also a perfect place to hold team-building exercises, particularly with its newly introduced Tree Top Challenge at the Prelut Adventure Camp, located near to the entrance of the recreational centre.

Thrill seekers have seven obstacles to pass in the challenge – the Burma Bridge, Canopy Zip Line, Wood Barrier, Broken Bridge, Bosun’s Chair, Giant Ladder and Wood Platform.

Additionally, there are also jungle trekking and horse riding activities to keep nature lovers busy.

The stream water was not so cold.. It was fun and quite safe. Its not too crowded in the afternoon because a lot of picnickers were going home. You may need to pay for the picnic bench at RM10 or gazebo-like hut at RM50. The hotspring part is just 2 tiny pools and by the end of the day, seemed very dirty and not at hot. But it's still OK. We had fun and an experience.

The place is quite attractive but the main problem is the fly. I think they should try to solve this unappealing problem. The flies swarm over food and people. Rimas
