Pantai Batu Layar Beach

2 months ago"05 May 2023. Can here first time with my love one. Never heard this place and she is the one found this place. Today not many people at the beach. Many small stores selling all kind of foods, drinks, toys and etc. We found a store selling ramli burger by a lady. The burger taste close to our memory taste of Ramli burger when we were younger. Very friendly store sellers, from the burger store to the people selling drink (we had 2 sweet drinks today, tea with cincau and green tea with cincau, special Malaysian style of drinks). We walked the beach, earlier was very hot then small rain pour. Is was sad to see rubbish lay at the beach and my love one got one good idea, we will be back to help clean up the beach one day (hope the day will come very soon and see if we can recruit some friends..." Melawati Hill (Bukit Melawati)

Malawati Hill is an excellent place to observe nature and a scenic landscape of the mangrove forest and the busiest maritime route of the Melaka Straits. For parents who have kids, a good place to expose the childrens to unique species of primate- the silvered leaf langur/monkeys and the crabs eating macaques. Occasionally we could also see eagles fly over the area.

Kolam Air Panas (Public Hot Spring) Bentong

2 months ago"This is an opened (free) hot spring pool by the road, anyway you still need to pay for the toilet service charge. The pool water temperature is lower than the upstream pond, but good enough to soak your feet in the water for long time. If you like hotter spring water just move to upstream pond. Be aware that the uneven pool bed depth up to 6ft. So this is not the kids friendly place, unless you can watch closely all the time at your kids. The spring water is not very clear since its origin from the muddy area." View
Penang House of Music

This place is quite a treasure trove documenting the history of music in Penang, and houses some good musical memorabilia. You're taken on a guided tour and are allowed to stay on as long as you wish to browse further. You're allowed to handle some of the musical instruments and displays. I wish it could be more well-funded (government-funded now) to allow for better exposure and opportunities to promote Penang and Malaysian music history and development. Elaine the guide and Paul the curator are friendly and obviously passionate about what they're doing here. This was the highlight of my recent visit to Penang although I'm Malaysian and had ..." View
Tropical Spice Garden

2 months ago"Went on a free and easy walk around. What we liked:
- activity booklet for kids
- a few slides scattered around the compound
- mosquito repellent spray is available for us to use at no fee at the ticketing counter
- has some interactive components (and not just plants) such as natural fish spa
- mostly shady due to the trees around
Considerations
- many steps to climb up/down slopes, was challenging for the elderly
- not many visual signs to identify the plants and explain about their uses etc.
We didn’t manage to catch the guided tour, that would probably allow us to better understand the plants!" View
Tropical Fruit Farm

Then a walk along the paved paths where the guide explained the fruit trees along the way. Then back on the vehicle to go back downslope to the shopfront. Followed by a short tasting session of their fruit enzymes, supposed to be able to taste their coffee honey too I think but we didn’t go for it.
We also paid for 2 packages that included a fruit platter and one cup of fruit juice. Sat at the nearby tables that had a good view of the surrounding greenery.
Huge farm, saw so many fruits that we’ve never heard/seen before! Just a bit sunny - so prep those sun hats and umbrellas." View
Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No. 5

2 months ago"An educational side trip, especially if you have small children. Nothing much but I assumed if you took the tour, it would be more informative. Unfortunaly, the tour starts at 430pm when I arrived around 2pm. So, I decided to explore on my own.
You can only enter the dredge if you join the tour. Else, you can only take pictures from afar and explore their mazes and admire the grazing goats.
You also get a free post card when you are near the maze and they will post your post card for free if you manage to locate the hidden post boxes in the maze.
Admission is rm8 per adult.
Parking aplenty and FREE." View

This has gotta be hands down the most informative and well kept musuem I ever been to in Malaysia. Its clean, bright and the tour guide, Lady Soo was so enthusiastic! She just makes the entire tour so much more joyful, considering her advanced age...Lady Soo is a darling!
The musuem is FREE, yup FREE of charge. There are time slots though so check it before you pop up. I was a single rider and managed to squeeze myself in, thanks to the kind Lady Soo. She will also serve you complimentary Ho Yan Hor herbal tea after the tour. She gives a preliminary background on the founder and how to self navigate yourself around the musuem. The musuem i..." When I told him we already paid, he gets mad and says I don’t want your money. The worst part was he followed us to our car and took pictures after we decided to buy honey elsewhere. We are glad buying honey from aboriginals to help them rather than those greedy who controlled everything including toilet business trying to make money from visitors by all means. Will never drop by this place again as we encounter crazy stingy sarcastic and arrogant shop owner!" View
