Pantai Penarik Beach - a long beach with swaying coconut trees along rustic sleepy fishing kampungs

It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Terengganu that is dotted with hundreds of swaying coconut trees and rustic sleepy fishing kampungs. Serene and breathtakingly beautiful, the beach stretches for miles.
Pantai Penarik offers a picturesque view of South China sea, with a stretch of breathtaking and clean beach. Visitors would never find it too crowded due to the long stretch of beach.
From the shore, you can see Bidong and Redang Islands, which is a short boat ride away from the Merang Jetty.
The beach is somewhere behind the coconut trees, 90km to the north of Kuala Terengganu. Straight and sandy coast line is the major attraction for holiday seekers who intend to tan their skin and have a couple hours of quite and relaxing time.
If you linger and explore the length of the beach, you may come across some fishermen either going out to sea or just returning with a boat full of their fresh catch. You can find pretty colourful boats in a row, a sight often seen on the beach.
Sometimes, the fishermen do not go all the way out but cast their nets a few metres from the beach. This is quite a rare sight for any visitor and you can ask around when is a good time to witness fishermen’s activities and wait with patience. After all, if you’re on vacation, there is no hurry to go anywhere else. So, live and enjoy the experience of what Terengganu is all about.
Driving along the Penarik coast is also a pleasant experience. Along the way, there are coconut trees shading the road and Malay village houses spotted here and there between the trees.
Visitors can also find some restaurants and stalls along the coast, selling seafood as their main dishes. Seats and tables are set up right by the beach. Enjoying the food with sea breezes is definitely a must-do here.
There are also a few homestay and lodges available for rent if you wish to spend a night in the area.
