What to Expect?

The museum building was formerly built by Dutch and used as the official residence and office of the Dutch Governor of Malacca. The building was then used as the official residence of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Melaka until September 1996. The museum was officially opened to the public in 2002.

The museum exhibits the personal belongings of various governors of Melaka since the independence of Malaya.

The museum is well arranged and there’s a section with biographies of many of the former governors and heads of state. Downstairs, you can see some of the rooms that were used by the governors. The dinner table for entertaining official guests is perfectly laid out and looks nice.

The museum is housed in a nice Dutch Colonial style white building with well tended gardens all around. Entrance to this museum is included as part of the entrance to the Stadthuys Museum complex and is one that is worth visiting if you have time.

    Visited in Feb.

This museum is housed in the former governors mansion and mainly exhibits gifts and personal belongings of all the former governors or heads of state of Malacca. The museum is well arranged and there’s even a section with biographies of many of the former governors and heads of state. Downstairs, you can see some of the rooms that were used by the governors. The dinner table for entertaining official guests is perfectly laid out and looks nice.
