What to Expect?

Formerly known as Coronation Park, D.R. Seenivasagam Recreational Park got its name from a famous lawyer named D.R. Seenivasagam. The park was opened in 1950 and it is known as the oldest park in Ipoh. It is a large urban park in the heart of Ipoh that provides many facilities such as a large field for football training and matches.

The D.R Seenivasagam recreational park comprises of a big area of different sections of things to do. Entering the park you see two fields, one on your left and right. Most of the time these fields are used for football games and other trainings. If you head on straight you can see the children’s playground. Apart from the playground, there is also a cycling area where road signs and traffic lights are put up for a road experience. This cycling track is away from the actual road which is not only safer to ride on but also fun. If you don’t have a bicycle, you can rent one here too.

Picnic spots are available throughout the park that are strategically located with breathtaking views. Besides that, a number of playgrounds that are in good condition are placed all over the park. Parents can keep an eye on their children while they are playing, from the benches placed around the playground.

A beautiful Japanese Garden can be found at the centre of the park. A pavilion can be found right beside the Japanese Garden for those who would like to enjoy a peaceful environment.

You can also try bike riding along the tracks. If you do not have your own bike, you can rent bikes at a nominal rate.

Peaceful and tranquil. Oldest park in Ipoh with many rainforest trees and Kinta river nearby. There are children playground, bicycle for rent, e scooter and skateboard ground. There is also a Japanese Park inside that is well maintained. Worth a visit as entrance is free and plenty of car park. Only downside is it is not wheelchair friendly as no special path for it

The park is clean, most of the facilities can function well, suitable for family time during evening and weekend.

You can rent a bike from RM 5 (for a single seat bike) to RM 40 (for a family bike). The staff is polite and concerned about kids safety who will recommend a suitable bike for kids and family.

I love DR Park. Have not been here for more than 30 years, just got back last year November 2022. I like the fact the park is divided into a few segments, so the crowd is widely spread (for covid spacing purposes). The best part is, the park is connected to Kinta River. DR park is also well-maintained by the hardworking staff. The grass grow fast, they truly need to work more to keep them low. Thank you!

A hidden gem in Perak. This park already operated for many years and still one of the best place to hang out. The best part of this park is Japanese Mini Garden. Beautiful and really makes me feel like in Japan. There are also lake, playground for kids, jogging track and you can rent bicycle too.
