Introduction
Formerly known as the Hutan Rekreasi Ayer Keroh, Malacca Botanical Gardens is encircled by a forest that contains over 300 species of fauna and flora. Highlight of the park is the collection of giant stone carvings of prehistoric animals – that were indigenous to this area – exhibited all around the park.
What to Expect?
Amidst the garden is a hanging bridge to take you across from one side of a river to the other. Have a go at it before visiting the Malaysian Book Village – which is essentially a kampung (village) house stuffed with books. The Book Village forms part of the government’s effort to increase reading interest amongst the people.
Here, you can browse through many old and new books, and purchase the ones that take your fancy. Then, proceed to the Melaka Forest Museum nearby for a brief look at what the Malaysian tropical forest has to offer.
* Update 2021: The book village service is suspended until further notice.
The entire garden can be leisurely explored and enjoyed in a few hours, and during the time you will be covering quite a lot of grounds. There are signboards all around so you will not get lost. You might want to try a trekking route and take pleasure in studying the flowers and trees around.
Alternatively, try out the Botanical Garden Buggy Ride, where you can drive the buggy for as far as 4 km in about 30 minutes. The garden has more than 14 electrical cars that can carry 5, 6, and 8 passengers. For motorcycle lovers amongst you, rent and ride a motorcycle to cross the grounds. It will prove to be an interesting experience indeed!

2 weeks agoWonderful place to have an enjoyable time with family. Rented buggy car, electrical bike, a huge place to explore.
The environment is refreshing and not so hot even if it's 12 o'clock in the afternoon. Love the flora and fauna.
Will consider visiting again and again for brisk walking or jogging or have fun with family. -

3 weeks agoVery good place to wind down, take a stroll and breath fresh air in the morning between 9am to 11am. Renting a bicycle is only RM5. Lots of opportunity to exercise, cycling, jungle tracking and tree top training (additional cost can buy online) There is a open field where I would play football. At times able to catch some monkey, insects, butterfly and dinosaur...

a month agoIt's free, Which is always a good thing .. but some kind of guide would be good. Instructions in English will help greatly. It's a beautiful place. peaceful. I saw monkeys, I saw a small green snake. Butterflies and more. The mosquitoes will kill you so dont forget the repellent or wear long pants and long sleeves. Moneys will eat everything. Dont feed them. I think it would be great for kids too. There are some challenging mini treks that you can do. Need to pay for those.. but it must be done before 3pm. After 3pm .. no trek challenges.

4 months agoIt's quite well maintained except sometimes the path could be full of tree branches and leaves after thunderstorm. The air quality is good, and most importantly u feel safe to jog or walk around the vicinity.
