What to Expect?

The Upside Down museum is an interactive museum located on Kimberley Street in George Town, Penang, offering visitors the unique experience to experience an upside down world. The museum resembles rooms in a house but there shops and even a café which is of course upside down.It is one of the best place to bring the kids, as it’s a family friendly location.

The kids and even those young at heart will have a great time here. The visit is pretty systematic as once you get your tickets, you will be given a locker to keep your shoes, and bring the locker key with you.then you are given a number and ushered to a waiting room to wait until your number is called before you can go in.

When your number gets called, you will be ushered along or guided on from one room to another. This is of course, not to waste time and also give the person after you a chance to enjoy the facilities without having to deal with crowds and ‘photobombs’ and all.

If you do not know how to take pictures, no worries, there is a staff there on hand who will teach you how to pose with the backdrop and take your photos for you.And the result would be of course, serious mind-bending photos that would set people agape with your new found ‘superpowers’ of being able to defy gravity.

    Very cool idea and concept!
Only wished we had more time in each room!
Helpful staff but in some cases felt a bit rushed

Great fun, fantastic photos taken by the staff! I wasn't sure what to expect and on reflection, I'm really glad we visited as it turned out to be a great laugh. The coffee was good too!

Please ignore the souvenirs, we bought a 3 in 1 bag for 24 ringgit, we found it later in another store, 2 for 25 ringgit.

Fun place to take photos in really weird poses that turns out great when you flip it upside down.

Not really a look around museum as there are many ushers to move you along for photoshoots at each stage.

I would say this place is definitely a work of art. The details, the colour and the design of the layout make the place so vibrant and interesting. Plus point for this place - the staff as free photographers make the visitors at ease and enjoy the experience of being around this unique house. The other staff are also very helpful and friendly too. The downside - quite a challenge to get a parking place and the parking is not free except for Sunday. You need to download apps Penang Smart Parking for the online payment. Overall experience? Definitely a must visit if you go to Penang!
