What to Expect?

The museum was originally established along Jonker Walk in 2009. However, due to its less strategic location at the back of a building and high rental cost, the museum was then moved to its current location in a single-story bungalow building at Bukit Baru in October 2011.

The museum displays contemporary movie toy figures and old vintage toys. Over 10,000 objects are included from franchises such as Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings, Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Bruce Lee, Looney Tunes, The Smurfs, Godzilla, Ultraman, Hamtaro, Pokémon, and Doraemon. While some of the toys were purchased directly from local stores in Melaka and Kuala Lumpur, others were bought online or donated by visitors

The museum opens everyday except Monday from 11.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on Saturdays and 2.00 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the other days.

Malacca Toy Museum has grown from its humble beginnings in Jonker Walk, to a single-storey bungalow in Jalan Penghulu Abbas. To get there from Jalan Bukit Baru, search for St. David Secondary School (Sekolah Menengah St. David), and the museum will be on your right. On approaching it, you will see a giant green statue of the Hulk on the museum rooftop and a big T-Rex on the museum grounds. Parking spaces are a little bit scarce, with street parking only available.

There is also a special section hosting vintage toys for sale. With prices as low as RM30, you can take home your favourite childhood toys and playthings. The section also sells vinyl records for only RM15 a pop for the music lover in you.

Feeling nostalgic? Take a trip down memory lane as you will be reminded of your childhood when you visit this museum. Stocked to the brim with toys from yesteryears, it was quite an exciting trip down memory lane. Despite being housed within a single-storey house, every inch of space is fully utilized. Owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. Look out for the huge Astro Boy figure at the entrance to find this place.
