What to Expect?

Telaga Tujuh Serendah, also known as Perigi Tujuh, translates as Seven Wells and is a little known part of Malaysia’s heritage.

What it is, is a small dam with seven sluices which are fed by water through seven sink holes or spillways. These spillways act like plug holes in a bath and allow the water collecting in the upstream lake to drain gently (or not so gently during a downpour).

History

The Sungei Serendah, a tributary of the Selangor River, can be seen flowing quietly near the former mining town of Serendah. In earlier days there were large boulders here where the river dropped down in seven (tujoh) whirlpools.

As this situation was considered dangerous for bathers, it was decided to 'landscape' the river, replace the boulders with a dam, and keep a memory of the seven whirlpools by letting the water flow down in seven channels. This results in an amazing looking 7 whirlpools on the surface of the Serendah river. After plunging down in the "wells", the water appears again from the dam at the bottom.

Overall the dam is pretty much the only attraction of the place. There's a trail surrounding the area but we technically wouldn't classify it as a complete recreational park due to its lack of park amenities and facilities. A visit to this site to witness the whirlpools is still recommended if you are in the vicinity, especially after you visit the Serendah Waterfall which is nearby.

Historic place. Which is 100 years ago, colonial built this for flood mitigation. Good place to picnic with family on the weekend. No entry fee. Just bring your food.

I pay a visit here when i finished my river cleaning activities nearby here. Eye soaring to see this beautiful place with lots of trash. Hope the government will send someone to take care of mother nature.

This used to be a beautiful site, until the rubbish from the river upstream partially blocked some of the wells. One of the seven well doesn't even have water flowing through it anymore.
This place badly need some maintenance and cleaning up!
