Introduction
Bukit Gasing, also known as Hutan Pendidikan Bukit Gasing, is a hill and a green oasis surround by dense civilization right at the border between Petaling Jaya (PJ) and Kuala Lumpur (KL). It is popular by local residents for trekking on the weekends
What to Expect?
Bukit Gasing Forest Reserve (Gasing Hill) is the green lung situated between Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. It is a secondary forest stretching more than 100 hectares. Visitors may not be aware that this lush jungle was once an abandoned rubber estate.
Thanks to nature’s miraculous power of nature. This area surrounded by the concrete jungle had restored into the sanctuary of various flora and fauna in the past sixty years. Today Gasing Hill, as the locals called it, has become the haven of hikers and nature lovers.
Gasing Hill is an excellent place for family outings and activities, at the same time appreciating the beauty of nature, listening to the earth’s melody spiritually. Visitors are from all walks of life, colors, young and old even mother cradling babies, and senior walking with his dog.
Apart from hiking, visitors like to have picnics there too! As there are several trails in Bukit Gasing, it can appear confusing to some, though the problem can easily be solved by downloading a trail map in your mobile devices.
Bukit Gasing Entrances
Set between Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, Bukit Gasing has two entrances. The main entrance is in Petaling Jaya while the other entrance is located in Kuala Lumpur.
1. Bukit Gasing Entrance (Petaling Jaya)
Parking at the Petaling Jaya entrance is limited. Hence, it’s best that you carpool with your friends if you’re coming in a large group. Otherwise, I would suggest the second entrance in Kuala Lumpur with ample parking spaces. Avoid yellow lines as there is strict enforcement in the area.
How to get here: Key in ‘Hutan Pendidikan Bukit Gasing’ or ‘Bukit Gasing’ in Waze or Google Map.
GPS Coordinate: 3.095117, 101.656032
2. Taman Rimba Bukit Kerinchi (Kuala Lumpur)
If you key in ‘Bukit Gasing’ in Waze or Google Map, by default, you will be brought to the Petaling Jaya entrance. With that being said, those who intend to park at Taman Rimba Bukit Kerinchi need to key in ‘Taman Rimba Bukit Kerinchi’ instead.
GPS Coordinate: 3.103245, 101.660825
Most of the trails here will take one to two hours to finish. Depending on your fitness level, you can attempt different trails in a day as they are interconnected. With that being said, Bukit Gasing not only has many trails, but it also has many interesting landmarks and highlights along its trails too!

2 weeks agoIt is not your typical hill that's for sure. Of course the suspension bridge is the most iconic spot but it's their stairs that make your hiking even worth a sweat, known as Stairway to Heaven. On average, hikers like me will take around 10 minutes to finish the steps. But it was fun. After that all the tracks will be just smooth.

a month agoOverall distance is around 4.2km. I just had my first visit this morning (03/06/2023). The trail was okay, quite beginner friendly. As always, I used the AllTrails app to keep track of the trail as backup. It was fun, took me like 1 hour and half to complete all the tracks. Recommended to visit!

4 months agoThis is a nice place to hike. However, the trail is a bit confusing without clear signage and first timer may easily get lost. Tag along someone who is familiar with the place so that you can really enjoy the hike.

4 months agoThis is the entrance to Bukit Gasing hiking trail from PJ side... They had started to build a walkway at the base... The trail is moderate and they do build "steps" to ease the climbs... There's a rope bridge at the peak... While ascending, we took the trail to the KL side... The KL side is well build and it looks nice
