Introduction

As pellucid as the blue sky above, Tanjung Rhu beach has crystal clear and clean water with powdered sand that runs along its coastline. A corridor of dense trees marks the path to the beach and proves to be an interesting gateway to the shores.

What to Expect?

Located just beyond Pantai Pasir Hitam, Tanjung Rhu has one of Langkawi’s best shorelines. The waters are as clear as crystal, the sand is powder-fine and driving towards this beach you’ll have to pass a dense corridor of jungle. Tanjung Rhu derives its name from the tall casuarina trees that line its shore. The word ‘Tanjung’ in Malay means a cape and ‘Rhu’ stands for Casuarina tree.

The area is absolutely secluded and the atmosphere is silent and peaceful. Bordered by intermittent limestone crags, Tanjung Rhu is gorgeously breathtaking and even though it may be as hot as Hades in some of the other areas of Langkawi, here the air is crisp, clean and cool.

The beach remains quiet, non-polluted and restful throughout the year with pleasant winds blowing from the sea. It does house a few local stalls that serve Langkawi’s favourite - mee gulung but nothing more that may obstruct its warm ambience. Adding to the exclusivity are luxury hotels that surround this beach in huge numbers.

The high-end properties contribute in keeping the beach secluded, thus preserving its beauty. Rows of fragmentary limestone crags border the beach, further adding to its mesmerising beauty. The beach is easy to reach and has gained popularity because of its inhabitants like Four Seasons Resorts and Tanjung Rhu Resort. On a visit here, travellers are sure to understand why Tanjung Rhu beach is known as one of the best shorelines in Langkawi.

There are a few roadside stalls selling Langkawi’s local favourite – mee gulung – but other than that the area is quiet. Featuring clean roads, this quarter of Langkawi Island is the domicile of the Tanjung Rhu Resort as well as the Four Seasons Resort and the well-heeled tend to gravitate here.

How to Get There

Tanjung Rhu beach can be accessed from a road named Jalan Tanjung Rhu which is near the village Padang Lalan. Once on the coastal road, a diversion leads visitors all the way to the entrance of the beach. The coastal road runs along with famous hotels situated on both sides such as Tanjung Rhu resort.

Soon comes a point where the coastal road meets the sand that marks the public area of Tanjung Rhu beach. The beach is at a distance of about 22 kilometres from Kuah Town and can be reached by a hired taxi. The fare of the taxi ride costs approximately RM40 from Kuah. Similarly, tourists may also rent cars for self-driving.

Water Sports available On the Beach

Tanjung Rhu beach offers several water sports activities for tourists to indulge in. Some of these are-

- Swimming
- Banana Boat Ride
- Jet Skiing
- Parasailing

One of the most pristine beaches in Langkawi. It has been my old favourite to come and relax by this beach and now it has upscaled its facilities with taken care toilets with shower and small area to wash your sand off other than a row of small stalls that sell varieties of food and beverages. Some tour agents are also available for you if you are interested to try boating, kayaking and other adventurous activities. But most of all what bring you back to this place is definitely its soft bluish green water lapping shore, delicate sand and breath taking scenery

Beautiful white sandy shores, more of an inlet than a beach- still very beautiful.
Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy with shaded spots under trees further up from the shore or rent a beach bed from the locals.
Take a walk around and see this beautiful place for what is is.
Please take your trash with you, so much filth on this pristine landscape from tourists not doing the right thing.
    Must visit!

A clean beach with majority foreigners having sunbathing on the beach and swimming in the sea⛱️ . Two rows of stalls selling clothes, souvenirs, transportation rental booths and water sports booths are available along the pathway to the beach. There is a collapsed building opposite the carpark, an eyesore to the scenery. Hopefully the local authority can take action.

No public toilet for bathing here.
