What to Expect?

Cape Rachado, also known as Tanjung Tuan, is an 80-hectare nature reserve 18km south from Port Dickson town. At the base of Cape Rachado sit two poular tourist beachside destinations; Blue Lagoon and Pantai Cermin, both situated directly opposite each other before the entrance. Sheltered from development, visitors can hike through jungle and scramble down hilly slopes to reach isolated beaches - each imbued with its own natural charisma and pristine scenery.

History

The cape is well known for the Cape Rachado Lighthouse facing the Strait of Malacca. The coastal area off the cape is famous as the site of the naval Battle of Cape Rachado in 1606, between the Dutch VOC and Portuguese fleets. The battle was the opening act for the series of conflicts between the Dutch-Johor coalition and Portuguese Malacca that ultimately ended with the Portuguese surrender of the city and fort of Malacca to the VOC in 1641.

Today, this area has been designated by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area. The Malaysian Nature Society is active in promoting conservation in the area. Visitors can find wildlifes in the area.

You cannot miss the sunset here.
Hidden beach after 30m trekking. Very nice place to go before it becomes too popular ????

? Great place & good facilities. Toilets are very clean, functioning & no unpleasant smell. The track are beginner friendly but there are also a more challenging track. Journey to the peak takes around 30 min one way (normal pace). Overall recommended for everyone even kids can climb up the rocks under supervision.

‼️ Recommended to wear gloves when going up the rocks since it has sharp edges too. If you are afraid of height & have balancing issue, be careful when you are going to takes pictures. Be responsible & considerate.

⭐️ Sunset or sunrise? I went during sunset & the view was fascinating but please bring headlamp on your way out since it is dark & no light. To be safe better hike early in the morning & for tracking purpose I used Strava.

A good place to chill out or climb the hill to see the lighthouse or enter into jungle tracks & also to venture to the beach area where there aren't many people.

First time here after my numerous visits to the place. Finally had the opportunity to check out this hiking trail and the lighthouse. The lighthouse grounds is out of bounds to civilians and tourist. Took a hike on two of the trails and had a good workout. Place not really maintained well enough. Could be the fact that it's resting on the boundaries of two states and the question of who is liable for the upkeep of the place is questionable. Nearby two pristine beaches with clean waters and sandy beach. Bot crowded on weekdays but not sure on weekends.

Reasonable number of parking at the bottom of the hill. Pleasant hike up the hill although some parts were quite steep. There were smaller paths into the woods which I didnt explore. Nice photo spots at the lighthouse. There is also a track down to the beach which I didnt have time to explore fully. Could not see the beach from the track due to thick vegetation. Would probably need about half a day to a day to explore. Recommended
