Introduction
The first major library established under the National Library Act 1972 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Residing in a huge complex, it has a children department that lets you borrow up to 6 books each month.
What to Expect?
It holds an organised collection of books, other printed materials and special documents such as films and audio materials.
The building is divided into four sections, the tallest of which extends to eleven floors including offices (some rented out to third parties), a gymnasium and badminton court, a cafeteria, auditorium, children’s theatre and exhibition hall. Facilities are supposed to be designed to be wheelchair friendly.
Two of the floors are dedicated to books and materials which the public can borrow and most of these are located in the annexe building called Wisma Sejarah. The kids section is in the main building.
The library holds close to 5 million items, including books, publications, magazines, newspapers, and online materials. Books available for borrowing number over 500,000 and are in Malay, Chinese, Tamil and many other languages but over half are in English.
Bring your kids here to start cultivating their reading habits!

a month agoVery calm place to work. The staffs are super nice and very welcoming. Publics are allowed to stay at levels 6-9. They offer free WiFi as well. The only drawback is there are only few electrical plugs distributed.

6 months agoThe security guards and staff are very friendly and courteous. They were patient in showing directions and guidance on how to use the automated checkout machine. Love the variety of the books available in the lending section.
Edit 20/1/23: how does the PNM manage to hire all these good attitude staff? Had a fantastic experience though my books were overdue. Assisted by Cik Zaimah who were very polite and efficient. Love these people!
