What to Expect?

Pusat Ikan Hiasan, or Ornamental Fish Center, is an aquarium and marine conservation facility at Teluk Kemang managed by Malaysia Fisheries Department. Open to public daily from 10am till 4pm, the center showcases a huge collection of popular marine fish, corals and other sea creatures in the aquarium trade. The center also raises and displays sea turtles from hatchlings to adulthood. Admission is free.

The centre is located at the northern end of Port Dickson’s Teluk Kemang beach and sea water from the bay is pumped into the centre’s storage tanks for cleaning and treatment before being used in their aquariums. The fish tanks are spotlessly clean meaning that visitors can obtain a clear view of the various fish, coral and marine creatures on display here.

Some of the stars of this marine conservation and aquarium are the sea horses, puffer fish, stonefish, clown fish, baby green turtles, hawksbill turtles, and coral reefs. Besides allowing its visitors the rare opportunity to get up close with rare aquatic creatures, the centre is designed to inspire people of all ages and from all walks of life to appreciate and take responsibility for the marine environment. The highlight of your tour here would be the opportunity to observe and witness real baby sea turtles paddling their tiny flippers in bubbling waters in the safety of large tanks as the centre also serve as a hatchery, allowing visitors to learn more about the lifecycle of these amazing creatures.

Outside the entrance is the turtle nursery comprising a number of tanks containing turtles ranging from cute tiny hatchlings to juveniles. The species on show were Hawksbill sea turtles, Leatherback sea turtles and Green sea turtles (which were not green at all).

    Free entrance !

Some suggestions for the improvements :

    1) The road to this place is a bit narrow and it can be improved further to cater for more tourists. Someone is collecting RM3 parking fee outside of this place, probably the relevant party can look into this to make it either totally free parking or ensure the parking fee collected is used to reduce the operating costs of the center.

    2) Quite a lot of aquarium tanks are empty. Could have more fishes and plants to be included.

    3) To explore in getting a big and transparent aquarium tank for the turtles inside the center.

Free entrance to visit the centre. Explore and learn many aquatic life such as tropical fishes with collection of colourful corals and sea turtle hatchery. Be careful while driving on the narrow road heading to centre.

We went over when it was a public holiday. The location is easy to find via Navigation apps. Road leading to centre was a lil narrow. Parking costs RM3. We just need to register our name at the guard house and entrance is free. Less than 3 minutes walking distance from the guard house to the main area. We were greeted with live turtles at the exterior of the centre. When we walked him, staffs offered to take our pictures. We spent a good 1 hour walking around seeing many colourful fishes and corals. Some were a first for us. As you walk out, you can purchase the previously taken photos. Overall, I would say its a place you can visit when you're in PD.

To enter this place, you no need to pay for the admission but only the parking at Rm3.

Even though it’s not big but very good place for kids. This is our second time here but my lil kids still very excited.

There also turtles there. Do visit when you are in Port Dickson.

Open to the public and it's free. Good to bring kids over for fun and educational purposes. Lots of fish and aquatic specimens. Kids love it here.
