What to Expect?

Located inside The Shore Shopping Gallery right by the Malacca River, the Shore Oceanarium has quickly established itself as one of the newest premier tourist attractions in Bandar Hilir, Melaka. The Shore Oceanarium prides itself on being the first aquarium in Malaysia that gives you a 3D experience using special 3D glasses.

At the exhibit, you can have ‘real vision’ of some places and species such as mangrove trees in Melaka, the Pahang rainforest as well as fossil stones and extinct fish species via the 3D light board display.

There are 12 unique exhibits such as Jungle Quest, Ocean Theatre and Magic Aquarium that you can visit on your walk through the oceanarium. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by the Interactive Touch Pool, where you can get up close and personal with marine species such as starfish, sea cucumber, bamboo sharks and even horseshoe crabs!

The highlight of the oceanarium lies in the final exhibit: Kampung Penyu. A joint venture between Shore Oceanarium and the Malaysian Fisheries Department, this exhibit featuring adorable sea turtles aims to provide education and raise awareness on the protection of this species.

Highlights:

- Interactive Touch Pool where you are allowed to gently touch some of the creatures such as sea cucumbers (very squidgy) and bamboo sharks (rough skin).

- Jungle Quest. This place is not just about fish but also has exhibits on land creatures such as snakes, frogs, lizards and so on.

- Ocean Journey & Ocean Theatre is where they have the large fish tanks and an overhead aquarium where you can view patrolling sharks from underneath. There is also a sea shell museum and 3D movie theatre.

- Fresh water fish have their own section called River Story. The aquarium full of piranha fish is impressive. -

- Kampung Penyu is a large pool containing sea turtles which you can feed with raw fish (purchased at the entrance). Nice to be able to see turtles close up but my daughter said it seems a bit cruel to keep turtles in a shopping mall. This exhibit is co-organised with the Fisheries Department Malaysia so hopefully the welfare of the turtles has been taken into account when designing the pool.

I went this place with my friends. It was a really great experience. There are many interactive activities can be experienced there. I think the entrance fee is reasonable for the experience we had there. It's a great place for family too!

Nice place to bring your kids. You can learn a lot about freshwater and saltwater fish. There section where you may touch few species such as small sharks, horseshoe crab, starfish and stingray. The end section you can also feed fishes but you need to purchase the food beforehand. You may get it at the counter when purchasing your entry tickets.

It's located inside The Shore Mall. Visitors are to park at level 6 onwards. Wide streets ramp & ample parking but it's quickly full in the afternoon. (5)
Ticket RM40 for adults, RM30 for kids & additional RM10 for fish feeding (optional). Outside food is not allowed & you have to leave it at the counter. Tickets can buy through a walk-in but come early to avoid a long queue. (5)
The staff are friendly & very helpful. (5)
    No washroom inside. (4)
The site is full of information. It is highly recommended to bring kids to learn about the ecosystem of sea & river life. Take the time to read the description & watching videos at the particular section. Apart from the educational, there are also fun activities in which everyone in the family can involve. Make sure your camera or mobile is fully charged. Visitors are allowed to take video & photos but no flash ON. (5)
