Introduction
The first aquarium in Malaysia to give you a 3D experience through special 3D glasses. Get up close and come nose-to-nose with thousands of amazing creatures like star fish, clownfish, stingrays, sharks and more!
What to Expect?
At the exhibit, you can have ‘real vision’ of some places and species such as mangrove trees in Melaka, the Pahang rainforest as well as fossil stones and extinct fish species via the 3D light board display.
There are 12 unique exhibits such as Jungle Quest, Ocean Theatre and Magic Aquarium that you can visit on your walk through the oceanarium. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by the Interactive Touch Pool, where you can get up close and personal with marine species such as starfish, sea cucumber, bamboo sharks and even horseshoe crabs!
The highlight of the oceanarium lies in the final exhibit: Kampung Penyu. A joint venture between Shore Oceanarium and the Malaysian Fisheries Department, this exhibit featuring adorable sea turtles aims to provide education and raise awareness on the protection of this species.
Highlights:
- Interactive Touch Pool where you are allowed to gently touch some of the creatures such as sea cucumbers (very squidgy) and bamboo sharks (rough skin).
- Jungle Quest. This place is not just about fish but also has exhibits on land creatures such as snakes, frogs, lizards and so on.
- Ocean Journey & Ocean Theatre is where they have the large fish tanks and an overhead aquarium where you can view patrolling sharks from underneath. There is also a sea shell museum and 3D movie theatre.
- Fresh water fish have their own section called River Story. The aquarium full of piranha fish is impressive. -
- Kampung Penyu is a large pool containing sea turtles which you can feed with raw fish (purchased at the entrance). Nice to be able to see turtles close up but my daughter said it seems a bit cruel to keep turtles in a shopping mall. This exhibit is co-organised with the Fisheries Department Malaysia so hopefully the welfare of the turtles has been taken into account when designing the pool.

The site is full of information. It is highly recommended to bring kids to learn about the ecosystem of sea & river life. Take the time to read the description & watching videos at the particular section. Apart from the educational, there are also fun activities in which everyone in the family can involve. Make sure your camera or mobile is fully charged. Visitors are allowed to take video & photos but no flash ON. (5)
